The Three Homes of George Clooney
George Clooney has become one of the most prestigious actor-producer-celebrities in the world. However, unlike many others, it seems George is not all about facades, or keeping up with popular expectations to please others. In fact, we’ve heard that he has never forgotten his roots and can still remember starring in the sequel, Return of the Killer Tomatoes, written and produced by director, John DeBello – among other forgettable roles. His real stardom came when he got his starring role as Dr. Douglas Ross on television’s popular ER series in the late 90s.
It appears that he lives life on his terms while managing to avoid stepping on toes or burning bridges. He is a friend to all, and when not, he is not afraid to stand up for his beliefs and convictions. Most certainly, his much talked-about conflict with Russell Crowe was blown out-of-proportion when Crowe threw a slew of insults his way and Clooney refused to accept an apology. We’re pretty sure that Mr. Clooney has a thick skin after becoming an A-List celebrity so late in life and that was all sensationalist journalism.
The beautiful thing about George Clooney, is that everything about him is beautiful. He seems to live a charmed life with everyone around him waiting with baited breath to see what his next step might be. Yet, he is not an attention-hog. He just goes about his business while the world looks on. So sometimes we just want to look in and see how this movie mogul lives his normal life. With an estimated net worth of $160 million, he could own his own island, jet and more. Although he does own a yacht, he continues to live a modest lifestyle and lives in homes that are comfortable, although quite spacious and luxuriously adorned.
Take a look at these beautifully appointed, but comfortable, homes where he spends his downtime in between films and his other activities and you’ll see what we mean.
1. Los Angeles Estate
This 7,354 square foot home in Los Angeles’s Studio City, is quite a mansion. Of course, it includes a 3D screening room which would actually be a write-off since it is a necessary tool of his trade. The kitchen and bar areas are fully equipped with state-of-the-art appliances and are stocked with all of his favorite things. Being the all-American athlete, Mr. Clooney’s home also has basketball and tennis courts for some outdoor practice or fun with friends. The pool is large and comes with a standard pool house just like any other mansion. Yet, the property is not ostentatious by Hollywood’s standards and looks like it suits the celebrity that we have grown to know and love.
2. Lake Como, Italy
Mama mia, now that is one splendid estate. Italy is the home of George’s second property and was purchased in 2001. This 18th century mansion is located in Laglio, Italy and is situated on the elite Lake Como, with other celebrity homes nearby. Villa Oleandra, as it is called, is where Clooney spends his summers, according to the what we’ve read. It has 25 grand rooms, to give you an idea of size. The villa almost got put on the market, after intrusive fans and paparazzi tried to ruin his privacy, but he changed his mind a couple years later. After all, even Laglio’s Mayor Roberto Pozzi announced it would be a shame if Clooney sold, as he had become a local who is loved by all.
3. Los Cabos, Mexico
Of course, everyone needs a nearby getaway and George is no exception. Flying to Lake Como isn’t always the most convenient destination for a weekend respite. So he also has his Los Cabos home, which is the villa next door to friends, model Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber. Los Cabos is known for being one of the finest places in Mexico for golfing, fishing and just hanging out in the amazing weather. This modern structure was designed by one of Mexico’s most preeminent architecture firms, Ricardo Legorreta. The interior is a bit of a departure from both of his other homes with its angles and decor, but is large enough to comfortably host several guests. After all, George Clooney is a staunch bachelor and is periodically without a female. One of his most tell-tale quotes that makes us like him even more shows his love for people, “There is nothing more depressing that being in a big old house by yourself. You want it filled with friends and family because that’s what makes a home.” We agree and think this is one celebrity who continues to understand what is important in life beyond fame and fortune.
