Most Popular TV Dating Shows

The subject of love is always trending and when one isn’t finding love for themselves,  watching others is the next best thing. Of course, nothing is as rewarding as finding your own better half. Television dating shows have been popular since ABC network’s early Dating Game that took audience’s by storm in the 1960s. Audiences couldn’t get enough of the “blind dating selection process” as they watched the bachelors and bachelorettes ask fun-loving, but revealing, questions from behind the screen. Hilarious and sexy responses were common. After the time ran out, the bachelorette selected her date. In later seasons, bachelors and bachelorettes reversed positions. The Dating Game was on and off the air for nearly four decades and the last revival ran from 1996 to 1999.
Here is our top list of most popular TV dating shows. Of course, MillionaireMatch.com is your own personal dating system.

Patty Stanger became a household name when Millionaire Matchmaker first aired. She is truly the world’s most controversial dating hostess. Often with an insulting attitude, Stanger became the matchmaker people loved to watch. Some of the entertainment value comes from never knowing what might come out of her mouth. The show includes two single millionaires who are looking for love. Stanger and her staff set up opportunity events for the millionaires to meet and select their dates.
Six years after the show’s launch, it is still popular. Ms. Stanger has gone through a couple of makeovers and romances herself, demonstrating for the world that if you want love, you may have to make a few changes to be ready to claim it. This show features both male and female millionaires. Note: Millionaire Matchmaker is a BRAVO television program and is not affiliated with MillionaireMatch.com.

3. The Bachelorette – ABC Network

The Bachelorette just finished its 10th season and is all about one lucky bachelorette who gets to put her suitors to a variety of trials and tribulations so she can  select her perfect match. This year 26-year-old Andi Dorfman was the lucky woman chosen for the spot. The story behind the story is that Andi was a contestant on The Bachelor’s 18th season, but left the show voluntarily after her overnight date with bachelor, Juan Pablo Galavais. Evidently, Juan did something to upset her, so on the ninth episode, she bowed out of the competition. We can’t help but wonder if she was offered the new Bachelorette series for “taking the dive”.
At the end of an emotionally-charged Bachelorette season, Andi selected  Josh Murray to be her happy-ever-after.

4. The Bachelor - ABC Network

Juan Pablo Galavis was this year’s Bachelor. He was rejected in last year’sThe Bachelorette with Desiree Hartsock after their date in Barcelona, Spain. Born in Venezuela, Juan Pablo went to school in Ithaca, New York and ultimately became a soccer player and father.  He is now a single father and lives in Miami, Florida.
Juan Pablo narrowed down his selection to two beautiful contestants: Clare and Nikki, but shocked the viewing audiences by telling winner Nikki he was not ready to propose. Clare walked away disappointed and with a few jabs. He then gave Nikki his final rose and suggested they continue to see one another. She replied, “Absolutely.” No news on how this relationship has progressed, but stay tuned for The Bachelor’s 19th season upcoming in January 2015.

5. Are You The One? - MTV Network

MTV has sponsored several dating shows over the past couple of decades. The latest version, Are You The One, is on its second season and going strong. It is considered a social experiment as much as a dating game. It starts with 10 men and 10 women 20-somethings who were previously screened as potential matches. In other words, the pre-screening matched up ten couples, but the contestants do not know which one is their match. Their task is to try to discover who was predetermined their “soul mate”. If the 10 couples match up within 10 tries, they each share in the prize money. Plus, each person will have found the mate of their dreams.
