Buying Mobile Homes, Worthwhile Or Worthless?



A friend of mine wanted to know my opinion on purchasing  mobile homes and with the varying beliefs in many quarters about them; he wanted to know if investing in mobile homes was worthwhile. In today’s world of depreciation on personal property, it is essential that one gets correctly prepped in any arena before investing money in it. Today’s unpredictable economy coupled with the different available housing styles have forced many to settle for the housing type that best matches their resources. Question then becomes, could it be worthwhile buying a mobile home?
Most people have the belief that mobile homes are a waste of money because of depreciation. To them, such amount spent will never be gotten back by the owner after a period of time. Depreciation means that the value of the property will reduce as the property ages; this is both true and false depending on where your property is situated. Such homes that are situated on Mobile home parks or on rented lands that do not belong to the owner will experience this depreciation while New Mobile homes located on properties that belong to the owner of the mobile home is money well spent.
Another case where mobile homes are of immense benefit to the owner is where the home is located on a property of increasing demand; for such, the rise in demand for the property only means more valuation on the mobile home. Imagine getting a mobile home that is situated around some resort, lake or some holidaying spot; the home can earn you much more money especially when you make it available for lease to these intending vacationers. Evaluation of mobile home prices thus is proportional to its location.
Owners of mobile homes also have an opportunity to improve the valuation of their mobile homes through beautification and Mobile home skirting. Mobile home skirting involves ensuring that your trailer or whatever material your mobile home is made of does not become a new breeding ground for animals and rodents. A well tended mobile home has much more valuation than one not tended for. So as you contemplate buying a mobile home, ensure that you also invest in beautifying and skirting it. Regardless of whether it will be situated at the Mobile home parks or one your personal property, put it in the best shape. Mobile homes are a worthwhile investment venture.
