MULTI-USE OF THE POWER OR SPEED BOAT

Power boats are boats designed specially for rapid movement with inboard or outboard engine. The power plant can either be mounted at back of the boat or close to the middle of the boat.
Powerboats vary in specification from the normal powerboats to those with enough space for comfort cruising with single or double cockpits and mega yachts designed to move fast.
Specification of a modestly comfortable powerboat includes the following, 3 x 225 Hp 4 stork engines; GPS depth sounder, Length of 47 ft, 15 meter hull; cruising speed 40 knots; emergency oxygen, full medic kit, radio, safety kits etc.
An incident occurred in Lagos, Nigeria waters recently when some pirates operating in powerboat hijack a cargo ship and were about looting the ship when the Naval base got a tip-off and immediately responded. Naval officers appeared in superior powerboat designed to move very fast and fitted with military hardware. The Naval officers were able to disarm the pirates and arrested them.
The point I am trying to make here is to show the various use of the powerboats. Consequently, the design of a powerboat is dependent on the purpose for which it is needed. Powerboat for racing may have sleek design with double hull to bring down wind drag.
Powerboat can also be designed for leisure with speed not as high as others specially designed for fast movement with space to allow more people on board. It could also be used for transportation, moving people without much luggage from one point to the other.
Governments of various countries have the means to purchase powerboats for ocean patrol and discussion could be held with manufacturers to design these boats in accordance with each country’s specification.
Oil Companies who need to transport their personnel on water also have their own specifications that could be accommodated by boat construction engineers.
Individuals having interest in powerboats but could not afford a new one can rent or charter one for whatever purpose it is needed. However, legislation in various countries on the ownership of powerboats to discourage criminals should be strictly followed.
