Luxury Travel – A Trip To Hong Kong
Think of Hong Kong and you can think of a number of things. Firstly there will be the sky scrapers that are a vital part of the economy. Next there is likely to be the markets with dozens of food stalls and shops that can provide you with anything from a watch to a custom made suit and finally there will be the luxurious places to stay and visit.
If you go to Kowloon you can spend your days wandering around the markets, but for the real luxury you will need to go to Hong Kong Island. There you can stay in amazing luxury hotels and eat at Michelin star restaurants.
There is plenty to see while you were there and depending on which month you visit, you could be lucky enough to see a special festival. In February there is the Chinese New Year and the Dragon Boat Race in June, and if you decide to go in August there is the Hungary Ghost Festival.
In Hong Kong you will find luxury travel taken to the extreme. With thousands of years of history you will find traces of the historical Chinese traditions and more recently a British influence.
One thing you may not associate with Hong Kong is the vast amount of plants and greenery that can be found once you move out of the bustling areas. You can shop till you drop and when you finally can’t think of anything else to buy you can wind down and relax in one of the 9000 restaurants. As you might expect the speciality in many of them will be Cantonese cuisine.
A couple of luxury hotels you might want to consider are the 4 star Excelsior or the 5 star Shangri-La
In the Excelsior you can have one of the 884 air conditioned rooms en suite rooms that comes with a TV and minibar. Set on the waterfront there is a fitness centre, a number of bars and restaurants and access to a couple of malls. The restaurants serve Cantonese, Asian and Italian meals and you can even keep up with your teams’ fortunes in the Sports Bar.
If you have chosen the Shangri-La you will have great views of the Harbour and select meals from 5 restaurants and either work out or relax in the sauna. The 668 rooms are en-suite, air conditioned, have TVs and a minibar. Whether you want a full meal, tapas or desserts and pastries freshly made in the Deli-Kool you will not be disappointed.
