Malawi – The Latest Luxury Holiday Destination

With Africa being a popular holiday destination now there are many countries that are gearing up to receive all the visitors that are looking for travel and leisure. Malawi seems to have earned a reputation for being a friendly country and when advertising it many travel agents refer to it as “The warm heart of Africa”.
Set at the tip of the Great Rift Valley Malawi has a lot to offer and there will be something for everyone to enjoy. There is some beautiful scenery and areas such as the Zomba Plateau are renowned for being the place to go if you enjoy bird watching. The area is ideal for walking trips and is a safe place to go. If you choose to stay in this area then the Ku Chawe Inn is an ideal location as you are also close to the old colonial houses that were set up alongside the tea plantations.
For a more energetic holiday you can make the most of the beautiful waters around Malawi and stay on Likoma Island where you can get the best of both worlds by either relaxing on the beach or snorkelling or seeing the coral that goes on for miles, and a beautiful selection of fish.
Although Lake Malawi is very wide it is possible to take a trip across to Mozambique and spend some time on the islands close to their shore. On your return there is Karonga that is an ideal place to go canoeing.
Malawi has become a popular place for honeymoons and adventure travel so there are a number of companies that advertise safari honeymoons. The island is very quiet and there is not a great deal else to do but relax and enjoy yourselves, but you should not miss the 19th 19th Century cathedral that was built by missionaries.
The Liwonde National Park lies just at the tip of Lake Malawi and the main location for the safaris is Mvuu camp. This may not be the sort of safari that you are used to as a lot of it takes place on a boat, but you can still see all the large game animals that you would see on a regular safari. There is an abundance of lion, antelope and elephants and these can also be seen in the more conventional way – by a vehicle through their homeland.
All travel agents will be able to give you full details of luxury hotels if you decide that the outdoor life is not to your liking.
